Senior Project Officer [Education & Training]
£22,634 p/annum rising to £25,670 p/annum

We have an exciting new opportunity for a Senior Project Officer to join our award winning social enterprise. This role requires you to work within the education and wellbeing team to develop, monitor, deliver and implement projects which stimulate interest and involvement in the natural world and local community. Your role will be vital to the smooth running of the organisation and as a valued member of the community interest company you will be fully supported by our highly experienced multi-disciplinary team.
This role is based in Burnley, Lancashire at the Offshoots site which is run by Newground CIC and exists to enhance the local community. Offshoots is a garden site and located in Towneley Park within the old walled garden of Towneley Hall. Offshoots is home to a Bee keeping apiary, wood yard, raised beds, small orchard, propagating area, woodwork cabin as well as a small office and classroom.
Offshoots is run with real community involvement - volunteers, groups and organisations are on site taking part in activities every day. Interaction and involvement with people of all backgrounds is key to the projects future success. You should have good experience of developing links within all cross sections of local community and enjoy engaging with people of all ages, abilities and backgrounds.
You will work with a variety of local project partners, which will include Local Authorities, community groups, schools and other housing associations to ensure that all projects are delivered smoothly and further development opportunities are maximised. This will involve working in a variety of outdoor and environmental projects such as food growing, horticulture, Permaculture, natural play, volunteer parties, woodland conservation, beekeeping and traditional skills.
You will have an input to the future direction of the site and will need to implement new projects which increase visitor and volunteer numbers to the site to ensure it’s use is maximised. This is an opportunity to create worthwhile environmental projects and make a positive difference to the local community.
You will need to raise public awareness of Offshoots and it’s work, stimulating community interest and involvement in the natural environmental and sustainability issues.
You will maintain and develop the commitment and competence of any managed staff by regular communication, effective performance reviews and the provision of suitable training and development opportunities.
In order to undertake the role of Senior Project Officer, based from Burnley, Lancashire you will require the following key skills, knowledge & experience:
Due to the nature of the role a full driving license with access to a vehicle insured for business use is required
The successful candidate will be required to undergo a fully enhanced DBS check as well
