Rhyddings Park Coach House - Carols by Candlelight
On a wet and cold Tuesday in December local churches and community groups of Oswaldtwistle came together at the newly developed Rhyddings Park Coach House and Kitchen Garden Hub to get into the festive spirit, and give their vocal cords an airing.
The scene was set, the candles flickering, warm cosy room and the signing began, such favourites as I’m Dreaming of a White Christmas, Silent Night, Once in Royal David City to name just a few were merrily sung by the participants and choir. At the interval the Friends of Rhyddings Park Cafe was open serving hot mince pies and tea to the festive singers.
Joanne Shaw Newground’s Volunteer Engagement Officer for the Rhyddings Park Garden, who attended the event said ‘ It was a lovely night sharing with the local community signing festive songs whilst reflecting over the last year and being able to start looking forward to the year ahead.
Both the Coach house and the Kitchen Garden have lots of activities planned over the next year we can’t wait to watch the garden develop as more and more of the local community in and around Oswaldtwistle join in. The Heritage Lottery Fund has invested heavily in this wonderful community resource and we hope to fill in with community spirit.’
