Green Hero Award Applications Now Open

Applications have opened for the 2019 Green Hero Education Awards. The awards are open to all primary schools in Lancashire who would like to nominate environmental work they have been doing over the past 12 months.

The awards are run by the education and well being team at Newground have been running for more than ten years. They are your chance to recognise and reward pupils and staff at your school who show dedication to the environment.

The awards are a part of the Lancs Science Festival 2019 and successfully shortlisted schools will be able to spend the day at the Science Festival.

A panel made up of local environmental experts will shortlist schools after entries have been received and successful schools will hear from the panel on Thursday April 11th.

There are 5 Award categories to apply for on a range of environmental topics, these are:

Global Citizenship Award
Waste Savers Award
Green Fingers Award
Wildlife Warrior
Outdoor Skills School Award

In addition to the above awards the judging panel will also nominate a Green School of the Year 2019 from all the entries received.

Information on the criteria for each of the awards is available on the guidance document which is available to download below.

To nominate your school fill in the application form which is available to download below and return to Dan McDermott at daniel.mcdermott@newground.co.uk by the deadline of Tuesday 9th April.
