Flood Hub in North West hits one year anniversary
The Flood Hub, a website supported by Newground to help homeowners, businesses, communities and landowners in the North West to manage flood risks, has reached its one year anniversary.
Funded by the North West Regional Flood and Coastal Committee, the Flood Hub is a joint initiative developed by the Flood Team at Newground, the Environment Agency, United Utilities, and Cumbria, Lancashire, Greater Manchester, Merseyside and Cheshire Strategic Flood Partnerships.
Over the past year the site has seen a lot of support with over 17,000 users interacting with the site and 5,271 flood resources being downloaded. The Flood Hub has supported many national flooding campaigns as well as hosting their own, including their National Flood Management Awareness Week, which focused on how good management can reduce flood risk.
The site includes an interactive map which can help you find flood schemes in your area, information about community groups and events and downloadable resources to help people become more flood resilient and aware.
Emma Lofthouse, Flood Engagement Officer at Newground, said: “It has been great to see the support for the website over the past year and we don’t plan to slow down with updating the site with new content.
“Our next steps will be to focus on our upcoming Christmas campaign, which will spread awareness and knowledge about the best ways to prepare for flooding in the upcoming winter months.”
