Newground’s Landscape Architects were appointed by the Whitehall Parks Supporters Group to help pull together an overall plan of potential park improvements. The park, which is Grade II listed in the register of historic parks and gardens, sits on the edge of Darwen, between the urban fabric, and wild moors: this park has a special place in the hearts of the local community.

With support from Newground, consultation was carried out with the local community, and following meetings and funding applications, the final plan was created. The plan focuses on the natural beauty and topography of the park, and how this can be utilised to rejuvenate the spaces. Proposals include a refreshed play space, bike track, forest school spaces, access to water play, climbing boulders, improved paths and bridges, food growing areas, and entrance enhancements.

The vision plan has helped the group to really focus on their aspirations for the park, and put together funding applications to realise their goals.
