Environment Agency Flood Support
For over 14 years Newground has delivered flood programmes for the Environment Agency and following the December 2015 floods a new programme of flood support has been developed to further support communities at risk of flooding.
Newground is supporting communities in Cumbria, Lancashire, Great Manchester, Merseyside and Cheshire who experienced flooding in December 2015. The programme of work involves:
- Supporting Local Authorities to raise awareness and promote the Resilience and Resistant Flood Grant.
- Provide advice and support for collective Resilience and Resistant Flood Grant schemes and work with local partners to ensure collective schemes are delivered.
- Increase understanding and awareness of online flood warning and river monitoring information.
- Provide advice and support to encourage individuals and communities to plan for future flood events through personal flood plans and community flood plans.
