Skipton Canal Waterfront
Craven District Council engaged Newground as Landscape Consultants to develop proposals for key sections of the Leeds Liverpool Canal corridor in Skipton town centre, including the canal basin and adjacent pocket parks. Consultation was carried out with key stakeholders, and we worked closely with the Canal & River Trust to develop a palette of materials and details that were in keeping with the surrounding townscape and the important heritage of the canal corridor.
We worked to a tight budget, and short timescale to deliver a quality design scheme that achieved the objectives set out by our client.
The final design scheme has been included in the District Council's bid for Growth Deal investment, and it is hoped that if the bid is successful, the works will be delivered in the near future.
"Newground provided an efficient service to design a package of improvements that together will uplift the quality of the Canal waterfront in Skipton. Newground effectively supported the District Council through landscape design, public consultation, liaison with partners and identification of an affordable and deliverable proposal."
